You Really Should Sell That
As a joke, I recently put together a pattern for a dildo cosy. I used Lorna's Lace's yarn. I showed the results to a few friends. One of them kept insisting that I NEEDED to sell these items. She was sure that the local sex toy shop would love to carry them.
I tried to explain that yarn isn't free and neither is my time. I might be able to find someone willing to buy these things for more than the cost of the yarn. While this pattern is simple, it still takes time to knit the completed work. I seriously doubt that anyone would be willing to pay even minimum wage for the number of hours required to complete of these items.
Somehow, this woman didn't get it. She didn't let up on this all night. I kept trying to explain the math. Maybe Barbie was right. Math really is hard. The math in his case doesn't work. My time is worth something. I don't believe there is a market out there who needs a hand knit dildo cosy so badly that they are willing to pay me to hand knit it for them.
In case, you want to knit one for yourself, here's the pattern.
