Two Foot Sock
I made a sock with two feet.
This was a gift for a friend (Hal) who likes dinosaurs. He also wrote a book, "The Meaning of Lost and Mismatched Socks." It's a funny book. I recommend it.
Hal also does a show every week that is one part spoken word performance art and one part Dr. Hal with a dash of talk show. It's kinda hard to explain. You just have to go. At the show, people ask questions which Hal answers in his own unique manner. We hid this sock under his desk and then submitted a question directing him to look under his desk.
The dinosaurs are because Hal has a thing for dinosaurs.
I knit these on Alpaca from Pacific Meadows Alpacas. Their alpacas live in Oregon. I did a provisional crochet cast on over 40 stitches, knit one sock and then turned around to the provisional cast on and knit in the other direction.
I 'blocked' the sock by dunking it in the bathroom sink and then pulling it in the direction I wanted it to go while it dried. Yes, I should get some blocking wires.
Next time, and there will be a next time, I need to put the dinosaurs on the side instead of the instep.
With only 16 stitches across, making a dinosaur that looked like a dinosaur was a challenge.
We presented the sock(s) at the Ask Dr. Hal show.
