This is a catnip mouse.
Or catnip something. Maybe not a mouse.
I use J&S Shetland Jumper Weight wool. I cast on at the tail, with 9 stitches over 4 #4 dpn. I knit circularly for a while & then started increasing, more or less randomly. I also knit most of this in the dark at the hospital. I dropped & added many stitches. After it seemed round enough, I knit around for a while & then started decreasing in the same haphazard manner. When the nose seemed long enough, I stopped & cast off. I added the eyes & black tip on the nose at the end.
The cat seems to like it and we know it's all about the cat.
I filled the toe of an old pair of panty hose with about a half cup of catnip. Then I stuffed everything, including the remaining bits of pantyhose & a few rags, inside the 'mouse' Then I threw it in the washing machine for a couple rounds. The end result is an unintentionally very round, very soft thing that the cat seems to enjoy attacking.
